In Scottsdale, Arizona, luxury spa resort getaways are the key center of the community’s economy. In fact, 39% of Scottsdale’s workforce is within the tourism industry, and in a per capita perspective, the town has more spas than any other city within the United States. Most of the spas within the community are derived from desert and Native American traditions, which is something unique that you can only find within the Southwest, specifically the Arizona region. The Willow Stream Spa for example, has arguably the best spa practitioners in the entire industry, they provide completely organic and preservative free treatments, such as a body mask called “native grains”, which is composed of cornmeal, oats, and naturally occurring clay devoid of preservatives, artificial color, or synthetic scents. However, the spa experience isn’t limited only by sensations that you can only see, feel and touch, the region also has spas that provide spiritual treatments as well. At “The Phoenician”, there is “The Centre for Well-Being” that provides private sessions in astrology, hypnotherapy, and guided meditation. A Cosanti Bell ritual starts the spa sessions at the Eurasia Spa. At the Boulders Resort, the Golden Door Spa provides a service called equilibrium bottle interpretation, and at the Manda Tea Room and Apothecary you can have your toes read. All of these experiences in Scottsdale, Arizona are highly centric on the desert and Native American traditions as mentioned before, with a good emphasis on organic techniques and treatments. It’s no wonder that whenever someone mentions the community of Scottsdale, that the very first images that ring up in their head is a vision of a mecca for spa-goers.
